Yunusﷺ

Prophet Yunus ﷺ (Jonah) was sent to the immense population of Nineveh in Upper Mesopotamia. When they resisted his guidance, he departed in frustration without waiting for explicit divine permission and boarded a laden ship. When a tempest threatened the vessel, lots were cast and Yunus was cast into the sea, where a great fish swallowed him without breaking a bone. In the depths of the ocean and the belly of the whale, he cried out: 'There is no deity except You; exalted are You. Indeed, I have been of the wrongdoers' (21:87). Allah answered his prayer, cast him safely ashore beneath a gourd tree, and when he returned to Nineveh, over 100,000 residents believed.
