The Penitent Warrior Who Slew Musaylimah al-Kadhdhab • رضي الله عنه
An Abyssinian spear-thrower who, as an enslaved man, struck down Hamzah at Uhud in exchange for his manumission. Later embraced Islam sincerely with the delegation of Ta'if. In repentance, he wielded that same javelin at the Battle of Yamama to deliver the death-blow to Musaylimah the Arch-Liar, saying: 'I killed the best of people in my ignorance, and I killed the worst of people in my Islam.'
“Wahshi narrated his story: 'I threw my spear at Musaylimah and hit him in his chest until it emerged between his shoulders... and an Ansari finished him with his sword. If I killed the best of men (Hamzah), then I also killed the worst of men.'”
