Salim mawla Abi Hudhayfah

A freed slave of Persian origin who mastered the Holy Qur'an to such supreme perfection that he was chosen to lead the congregation in prayer at Quba—leading seniors like Umar ibn al-Khattab and Abu Salamah. The Prophet ﷺ declared him one of the four teachers from whom the Qur'an should be acquired. Carried the standard at Yamama until his arm was severed, continuing to hold it with his chest until martyred.
