Al-Shahid al-Mujahid (The Martyred Champion of Yarmuk) • رضي الله عنه
Son of Abu Jahl who fled Makkah upon the Conquest, but was pursued across the Red Sea by his noble wife Umm Hakim, who brought him back safely. When he entered, the Prophet ﷺ leaped up to embrace him without his cloak. He dedicated the rest of his life to redemptive valor, famously leading the four-hundred-man 'Battalion of Death' at Yarmuk until he fell martyred.
“The Prophet ﷺ instructed his companions upon Ikrimah's approach: 'Ikrimah ibn Abi Jahl comes to you as a believer and an emigrant, so do not insult his father; for insulting the deceased harms the living and does not reach the dead.'”
