The Badr Veteran Who Preserved Ummah Unity at Saqifah • رضي الله عنه
Father of Al-Nu'man ibn Bashir and among the veteran Ansari heroes of Badr, Uhud, and Khandaq. At the critical gathering of the Saqifah after the Prophet's death, he was the first Ansari leader to step forward and swear allegiance to Abu Bakr as-Siddiq, ensuring the cohesion and unity of the nascent Islamic state.
“At Saqifah, Bashir ibn Sa'd addressed the Ansar saying: 'O assembly of Ansar, by Allah, Muhammad was from Quraysh and his people are more entitled to his succession.' Then he stretched forth his hand and gave the first pledge of allegiance to Abu Bakr.”
